Update on available facilities due to Covid 19

Today several our facilities will be back in action, and we are very excited to welcome back more of our customers.

However, after reviewing our risk assessments in line with the recent information and guidance from the government, combined with the current rising numbers of Covid 19, we have made the difficult decision to keep a few areas closed for the time being.

The facilities that we do not yet feel able to reopen are the Sauna and Steam room and the showers in the changing rooms in the Gym areas. We realise this will be disappointing news to some and apologise for the ongoing inconvenience, but we make these decisions with public and staff safety in mind and as a business we need to be 100% certain that we are operating in the safest possible way.

In addition to this we will be continuing to ask that our customers who are not exempt wear a mask when moving around the building. Face masks will also be required when seated in our Training Pool spectator’s area as this is a small, enclosed space where social distancing will be hard.

One-way systems will remain in place around the building and we ask that customers please follow these and any directions from staff.

If you have recently reactivated or taken out a membership specifically for these facilities and do not now wish to use it, please get in touch with us so that we can resolve this for you eastbourneleisure@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk

We hope that customers will understand our need as a business to do all we can to keep everyone safe and look forward to welcoming you all soon.

Dear Member

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your continued support and business over the recent tough times.

We have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback that we have received over the recent months, and are very grateful to all our customers for sticking with us.

As I’m sure you will be aware, the government have recently announced that they will very likely be removing the current covid restrictions from the 19th July.

With this in mind, we will be looking to return to our pre-covid operation, and increase our lessons programme to offer more availability to our existing and new members for classes.

From the 19th July we will be introducing a new timetable with an increased number of classes and a number of positive changes:

  • There will be no gap between lessons anymore enabling us to fit more classes in

  • Class sizes will remain the same, we will not be increasing the capacity of our classes

  • Teachers can teach in the pool for all levels up to Stage 2

  • Spectators can return to lessons and the Training Pool Spectators area will be open again

With all these changes as of the 19th July your current class time may have changed

Please visit our news page and click the link for information on the changes to classes.  The information will state your current time and the new time for this class.  If you are happy with your new class time you do not need to do anything.  You will automatically go into this time.

Hopefully with the increased number of classes, if you are not happy with your current time, we will be able to accommodate you in an alternative class.

If you do wish to move classes then please contact us from the 12th July, we will not be able to assist you before this date.

We will be opening up our lessons to new customers from the 19th July so please contact us before this date if you wish to change lessons.

We hope this is welcome news, and that this information is clear and helpful, however if you have any questions please email eastbourneleisure@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon

Kind Regards

The Sovereign Centre Team
